Mission Statement

I am a trustworthy interpreter. I am honest, even when it is hard. I am reliable and stay true to my word. I value my bonds and connections with others over all else. I always refer to the Code of Professional Conduct when I have a difficult decision to make, and always do so to the best of my current ability. I am an eternal student. I am always striving for improvement and eager to listen to feedback from others, even when it is hard to do so. I employ the things I am taught, and never shy away from asking questions. I am ambitious and persistent when it comes to achieving my goals. I always aim to be a champion for the Deaf community, which has so graciously accepted me. I make sure to ask those around me what they may need, and make plans to take action. I seek out opportunities to be helpful to them. I honor their boundaries and will reflect if ever crossed, so that it does not happen again. I aim to use my hearing privilege for good within this community. While I am fluent in two languages and cultures, I will never remain fully satisfied with where I stand. I think there is always something you can learn and something else that you can improve. I keep my mind open and compassionate, and am grateful to be working my dream career with a community I love.

Smart Professional Development Goals

What is your short term Goal?

Specific - In the ITP, we have to apply for two internships. My goal is to find something that best suits my schedule so that I can get some hands-up practice. I am aiming for College or K-12.
Measurable - This will be measured by ensuring I am doing my part to make my e-portfolio presentable and ready to apply to the internships.
Attainable - This goal is attainable because it is a requirement of the program.
Relevant - This goal is relevant because not only is it necessary for graduation, but it is the hands-on experience I am needing to be prepared for my state certification test.
Timely - My student permit is pending, so my goal is to have the internships picked out and apply to them by the end of this semester.

What is your long term goal?

Graduate from the ITP with my associates, and start on my Bachelors Degree, aiming for the NIC.

Specific - My goal is to start on my Bachelors Degree as soon as I graduate from the ITP with my Associates.
Measurable - This will be measured by keeping up with my studying and classes, to make sure that I graduate on my expected timeline.
Attainable - This goal is attainable because I am doing the work needed to keep up with my program.
Relevant - This goal is relevant because in order to take the national test, I need a Bachelors Degree. I would like to hold an NIC within 5 years.
Timely - My timeline is to be graduated with my Associates in Spring 2026, and start my first semester toward my Bachelors no later than Fall 2026.

5-Year Bucket List of Goals

Graduate from the ITP with my Associates, and pass the novice state certification exam within 6 months.

2027

Be working on my Bachelors Degree.

Join a program to help me improve before taking the professional exam.

Pass the state professional exam.

Finish school and graduate with my Bachelors Degree.

Take and pass the NIC.
