Why did you join civically engaged Scholars?
I joined Civically Engaged Scholars as it felt like a great opportunity to implement what I am learning in the ITP. We are typically required, and heavily encouraged when we are not required, to familiarize ourselves with the Deaf community. Through things like socials, planned events and classes, and volunteering. I think this is a great opportunity for us to get involved while also practicing our newly learned skills and forming connections.
Which Pathway are you excited to learn more about, and why?
I am most excited to learn about the direct service pathway. This is the first semester where we are not just obligated to attend socials, but to actually volunteer and provide service to this community. I am really excited to see what opportunities there are for that, and what insight and reflection I walk away with.
