Student Competition
AWPT 2024 Student Design Competition
Purpose
To encourage students to be interested in the Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technologies.
To provide an opportunity for students to experience the challenges of practical hardware design and measurements.
Participants
Applications can be made either individually or in groups. Each team may consist of up to 3 members.
Teams can include high school students, undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
Professors, supervisors, and/or mentors of the students can only serve as advisors.
Topic
Participants are required to use wireless power transfer technology to light up an LED anywhere within a defined space of 20×20×20 cm³, as illustrated in the schematic below.
The maximum power transmission is limited to 1W, and we provide a 0 ~15V stabilized power supply, function generator, signal generator, tester, and oscilloscope. If you need any other equipment, please prepare it yourself.
There are no restrictions on the operating frequency or type of technology employed. All forms of wireless power transfer systems are encouraged.
Evaluation criteria:
Miniaturization of the receiver (Rx) and simplification of the transmitter (Tx).
Energy saving, low transmission power.
Improvements in power transmission efficiency, distance and other relevant performance metrics.
Procedure
The competition will consist of the following two stages:
1st stage: Design Project Proposal Submission
Interested participants should submit the following documents no later than November 11, 2024:
Cover Page (1 page) and Project Proposal (5 pages or less) - See sample here.
Acceptance notification: November 18, 2024
2nd stage: onsite competition
The participants shortlisted from the first stage will proceed to the onsite competition, where they will provide practical demonstrations of their proposed systems at AWPT2024. Participants will compete for the final awards, and the proposed systems must be portable to be transported to the competition site.
