Jockey's Ridge State Park
is well worth the short walk from the house. There's a great little beach with shallow, calm water that's great for the little ones. There are miles of hiking trails and surreal sand dunes with incredible views. 

Kitty Hawk Kites is a great local business with a knowledgeable, friendly staff. They can get you set up with your next wind addiction whether it's a starter kite for the kids or kiteboard lessons for the more adventurous.
