Children in our Elementary program build upon what they have learned in Pre Primary. Practical life activities become more advanced at this age. Students will continue to care for themselves, their environment and helping others. They continue to explore Language Arts through reading, writing, penmanship, spelling and grammar. Children begin to research topics that interest them and create projects. Students study addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in Primary using manipulates. They begin to explore advanced topics such as world cultures, art, music, sciences and health. Students will also explore nature daily. 

In our aftercare program children can play with all of our materials for lots of exploration and hands on fun! We also enjoy exploring our outdoor spaces afterschool. This program is open to all AVMS students as well as students from New Minas Elementary.

Drop in mornings are designed to help your family with whatever you need to make the program you are already running even better! Teachers can design Reading and Spelling or Math workshops at your child's level. Your child can also engage in free play with all of our wonderful learning materials. Let us know today what you need!
