Montessori schools focus on child-centered learning. Our curriculum will help your child become an independent thinker with a lifelong love of learning. Each child will receive an individualized program planned around their developmental stage and academic abilities. Students learn about topics they are interested in through hands on discovery and research projects. Children also practice daily practical life skills. Practical life in Montessori is purposeful activity that develops motor control, coordination, independence, concentration and a sense of responsibility.
Montessori Vs Conventional School
No desks in rows: Children sit at tables, floor mats, scoop chairs, etc. when working on an activity. They sit in different spaces depending on the activity they are working on.
Everything is hands on learning: Children won't be given a dozen worksheets to complete.
No homework: We believe children need family time when they go home. Not more work!
No grades: Students will be given comments as reports. These reports will tell the student and parent what they are good at and what they will be working on next. Grades are for comparing students, which isn't needed here!
Almost no whole group lessons: Our classroom is a mixture of different ages and every child is at their own level. Pretty much every lesson will be taught in a small group or one on one.
Our program offers your student so many subjects they won't learn in Elementary school!
Field trips or outings in the community. If it is nice outside we are going to explore!
Almost no technology: Children need to explore things and get messy! The real thing is almost always better than on a screen.
Children get to learn what they are interested in and how they want to learn about it!
Practical Life: Part of our curriculum in learning skills children need to use in life.
