Sensory sensitivities can be like having a sieve where the holes are too small or large, leading to excessive or insufficient sensory information reaching the brain.
Too much information can lead to sensory overload. Many of the videos that show you what it might be like to experience this tend to focus on sound as the stimulus. While this is commonplace we must not forget that other senses can come into play. Smell and light can be especially important considerations in schools.
