This species does the best around 23-27 Celsius but can tolerate down to 16 and up to 30 for short periods. Like most other bugs, scorpions grow faster at higher temperatures.
Humidity isn't as important to measure as if there's enough moisture in the substrate, the scorpion would be fine. To measure if there is enough water in the substrate, squeeze a little between two fingers and if no water drips out, its too dry
Most scorpions should be fed at least twice a week but young scorplings often need 3 or 4 feedings. When scorpions moult, they will stop feeding for around a week before and 1-2 weeks afterwards. The prey should be around the same size as the spiders head if not smaller. Pre killing the prey is the safest method of feeding as this eliminates the risk of the prey hurting the scorpion. Placing the prey item in the freezer for 15 minutes is the most humane way to pre kill.
From scorplings to even adults, the scorpion can be kept in 500ml plastic jars.
Coir peat is the substrate we use for all our bugs as it holds moisture well and is economical. some sand can be added to make the substrate better for burrowing as well. A scorpion needs at least 50mm of substrate but around 100mm is ideal.
