This genus does the best around 23-27 Celsius but can tolerate down to 16 and up to 30 for short periods. Like most other spiders, Tarantulas grow faster at higher temperatures.
Humidity isn't as important to measure as if there's enough moisture in the substrate, the tarantula would be fine.
Most Phlogius sp should be fed at least twice a week but young slings often need 3 or 4 feedings. If the tarantulas abdomen is thinner than the head indicates that the tarantula needs food immediately. When tarantulas moult, they will stop feeding for around a week before and 1-2 weeks afterwards. The prey should be around the same size as the spiders head if not smaller. Pre killing the prey is the safest method of feeding as this eliminates the risk of the prey hurting the tarantula. Placing the prey item in the freezer for 15 minutes is the most humane way to pre kill.
from slings to juveniles with a leg span of around 40mm the tarantula can be kept in 500ml plastic jars. Adults need an enclosure that is at least 30cmx30cmx30cm.
Coir peat is the substrate we use for all our spiders as it holds moisture well and is economical. A young tarantula needs at least 50mm of substrate but around 100mm is ideal. An adult should have around 200mm.
Phlogius sp don't burrow as much as Seleno species though.
