ebooks & Audiobooks
We have so many great eBooks/Audiobooks through our Dekalb County Schools Sora account. Watch the video below to learn how to access them.
Sora and Galileo are paid for by the district and will be our main sources for eBooks, but check out all the resources on this page to see which eBook source you like best. Epic! is free for students if you join a teacher's class, and it is rumored they might extend free access through the end of the year for parent accounts. 1). Sora by Overdrive- Fiction
Scroll to find the Sora App on the Clever Launchpad. Click on Sora when you find it.
The first time you log in to Sora you will have to type your student ID/password and search for Austin Elementary School from the list of schools.
Now you are ready to search the catalog.
You can read your books right from your computer OR you can download the Sora app on any smart phone or tablet.

2). Tumblebooks
Our School has a subscription to TumbleBookLibrary, and your family can access it from home! It’s unlimited, and it’s FREE for you to use from home! TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of e-books for children. They are a great way to encourage tech-savvy kids to enjoy reading! There are over 250 animated, talking picture books! The site also features Spanish and French books, read-along chapter books, non-fiction books, quizzes, and exciting games and puzzles! We hope that you will get the chance to check out the collections with your child! Below is all the information you’ll need to login to the collection:
STEP 1). Log into the Launchpad/Clever
STEP 2). Click on the MackinVia App
STEP 3). Click on "Databases" once you are in MackinVia
STEP 4). Click on Tumblebooks and start reading!!!
3). Epic!
Epic! is free if your teacher has an account and invites your student to it. Ask your individual teacher about a class code for joining Epic! OR you can email me cassidy_earle@dekalbschoolsga.org and you can join my "class" in Epic!.
4). ebooks through Ebsco Galileo databases- Fiction and Nonfiction
Galileo offers hundreds of full text ebooks for free with this database.
1a). First try clicking the EBSCO eBooks image or the heading. IF that does not take you straight there use the directions below....
1b). Log in to Launchpad and click on Galileo. The password changes a couple times a year. Please reach out to your teacher or teacher librarian for the current password.
2). You can change the view to elementary in the top right corner.
3). Scroll down until you see the section "Databases by Type."
4). Then click "Books, eBooks, and Book Reviews"
5). Scroll through the results until you see "eBook K-8 Collection"
6). Select the "eBook K-8 Collection" and now you can find a book you want to check out!
7). Find the book you want to read, borrow it, and now you are ready to start reading!
Dekalb Public Libraries are offering great digital book access. BookFlix, eRead Kids, and Tumble Book Library have ebooks, audio books, and video read alouds. Some of the books requires a Dekalb library card to access. These are excellent free resources.
