CAPPING MIGRATION

The Liberal Party is committed to ensuring that Australia’s population growth is sustainable and in line with the capacity of our infrastructure, housing, and essential services. 

To achieve this, we will introduce a policy to cap migration at 150,000 people annually. This cap will allow for controlled and strategic population growth, ensuring that Australia can continue to welcome skilled migrants and reunite families without overwhelming our cities and regional areas. By setting a migration cap, we aim to ease pressure on housing affordability, reduce strain on public services, and maintain the high quality of life that Australians expect. 

This policy will also allow us to focus on targeted immigration that addresses key skills shortages while ensuring that migration remains beneficial to both our economy and communities. The cap will be reviewed regularly to align with Australia’s economic needs and future growth capacities.
