The Liberal Party is committed to fostering an open dialogue about the future of Australia’s key public assets. As part of this commitment, we will initiate a national conversation on the potential privatisation of Qantas and Medibank.
We famously led the charge to nationalise Bonza, and again explored options to nationalise REX Airlines. However, considering the current market it is worth consulting with industry experts, stakeholders, and the Australian public to evaluate the benefits and challenges of privatising these iconic institutions.
Our goal is to explore how privatisation could enhance efficiency, improve services, and strengthen competition in these sectors, while ensuring that the interests of all Australians remain safeguarded. No decisions will be made without thorough public consultation and careful consideration of the long-term impacts on consumers, employees, and the broader economy.
"No, I WOULDN'T have the CFMEU build my house" - Next PM Porriidge
The Liberal Party is committed to ensuring a fair and lawful work environment for over a million workers in the construction industry. The Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) was established to protect workers from harassment, threats, and intimidation by union officials, ensuring that the rule of law is upheld on construction sites.
Over the past 15 years, the CFMEU has breached the law over 2,000 times, resulting in $16.4 million in penalties. To restore order and fairness in the construction industry, we will immediately reinstate the ABCC to safeguard workers and maintain legal compliance across the sector.
In addition we will reform the electric car subsidy to be solely for car manufacturing in Australia. Our taxpayer dollars should not be going overseas to foreigners, they should be supporting Australian workers onshore by reducing labour cost to make domestic electric car manufacturing internationally competitive.
"Yes, I WOULD buy an Australian-made electric car" - Next PM Porriidge
The Liberal Party will reform the electric car subsidy to exclusively support domestic vehicle manufacturing in Australia. It died when the Labor party of old cut off its head and failed to support our jobs.
Our taxpayer dollars should not be sent overseas, but instead, used to bolster our local economy and create jobs for Australian workers.
By directing subsidies toward reducing labour costs, we will make Australian electric vehicle manufacturing internationally competitive, ensuring that Australia can be a leader in the global automotive market while protecting and growing onshore employment.
