Fencing

My trusty rapier and dagger, customs from Castille Armory

My Martial History

I started fencing in 2015, just before leaving Aethelmearc. I had a moderate amount of modern fencing experience, so the chance to combine that with the SCA hooked me deep and hasn't let me go since.

When I arrived in the Mid, I got the opportunity to learn from many excellent fencers, who got me started on looking at fencing through the context of holistic, historical systems. I dove into Giganti and dabbled in other masters of the Northern Italian tradition to arrive at the style of fencing I prefer today. The journey is continuous, and I look forward to continuing to develop and refine my skillsets as a fencer in Atlantia.

I also found myself in the midst of an excellent Cut and Thrust community in the Mid, which introduced me to I.33's sword and buckler, and the spada solo of Bolognese. I have a particular fondness for the sidesword and consider Marozzo's treatise my main reference for cut-based fencing.
