I. The Library Committee

Assist the library in gathering collections in various categories, particularly in the curricular materials, the help of the Library Committee is essential. This committee is composed of faculty members selected by our Elementary Librarian.

  

II. The functions of the Library Committee are:

1. It shall advice and assists the Elementary Library in building up a balance collection.

2. It shall also act as a liaison between the Elementary Library & the academic community.

3. It will also function as a support in the promotion of   library needs and usage

4. Make recommendations, when necessary for library improvement.

III. Selection

The head of elementary library has the primary responsibility for collection development but will also encourage the faculty representative to each level served to select materials to build the collection.

The Elementary Librarian in coordination with the Faculty Library Committee is responsible for the collection development of library materials.  Upon the recommendation of the Elementary Librarian, noted by the Elem Principal and the University Librarian, the Acquisitions Librarian thru the Office of the AVP, SPSF, will seek the purchase approval for books and other library materials to the Office of the VP for Finance for she will have the last word for its procurement. Library committee whose members are faculty members representing the different subjects are invited to book fairs to utilize the library's bibliographical and review resources for identifying purchase requests and then make recommendations for their particular subject areas.


IV. Policy on Book Selection

1. Library collection will be built on the following fields of subjects:

Thematic - an instructional unit or module, course, or multiple courses.

B. Primary Level

C. Grade School

-          Filipino

2. Faculty members are tasked to evaluate and recommend books for their department, approved by the Principal & endorsed by the Elementary Librarian.

3.  Fiction books for educational & research purposes maybe purchased.

4.  Duplicate copies of in demand materials maybe purchased.



V. Selection Priorities

The following priorities shall be observed in the allocation of collection development funds for library materials and electronic resources:

1. Support for pupils learning and faculty preparation for existing programs of Elementary Department are given the highest level of priority.

2. Support for pupils learning and faculty preparation for general education offers.

3. Library materials and electronic resources for supporting the accredited programs.
