JUNIOR LIBRARIANS & BOOK LOVERS’ CLUB

 Club Description:

The Junior Librarians & the Book Lovers’ Club are composed of pupils from Elementary Department Grade 4 to 6 levels voluntarily joined the groups.

The Junior librarians assist the elementary librarian in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the library, promote good library conduct and help in the publicity of the library. Junior librarians help the pupils get familiar with the library and its operations. Conduct club activities for the school year. Meets two times a month for club activities, workshops and participate national event like bookfair and national book month. 

General Objectives:

1. Encourage students to read more and to explore titles they may not find otherwise

2. Connect passionate readers from different classes and grade levels

3. Give students the opportunity to practice librarianship and prepare future goals in their life

5. Give book lovers a place to feel safe, valued and knowledgeable.

The Junior Librarians and Book Lovers’ Club aims to:

1. Familiarize students with the following;

1.a. Parts of a book

1.b. Importance of books

1.c. Types of books and the information they can give

1.d. Familiarize reference materials such dictionary, encyclopedia, almanacs, etc.

 2. Familiarize students with the library;

2.a. Library system

2.b. Library resources

2.c. Library use and care

3. Expose and familiarize students to various reading materials appropriate for their level;

4. Listen to a story or sharing of story read;

5. Film viewing Educational Movies;

6. Library Tour and Book Drive;

7. Sharing of personal copies of classics;

8. Storytelling or listening to Podcast/stories;

9. Participate club activities like drawing, painting, poster making and other workshops.

ACTIVITIES:

1. Reading of classical books.

2. Familiarization of the different library materials.

3. Viewing of some education films.

4. Interpreting some selection through creative arts.

5. Listening to stories.

6. Sharing of personal experiences in relation to the story read.

7. Joining library tour.

8. Helping in the book drive.
