Hi! I'm Audrey and welcome to my final Integrating Activity website :)
I am 18 years old and love multimedia (mostly digital) art, as well as reading, plants and taking pictures. In the future, I hope to work in the graphic design industry and be passionate about what I create.
Throughout this website, you will find my artworks and projects as well as my final project for this class: Who Am I?
Combining my love for reading and design, this piece explores the composition of book covers and narratives expressed through visuals. Created using procreate, this design was then imported in photoshop for the mockup. Inspired by a dream I had, this book reflects deeper emotions of anxiety and overthinking, specifically the voices in your head. I chose colours that would reflect the midnight sky and contrast well to grab a reader's attention. The title of the book is illustrated as a series of letter constellations to match with the sky. I also illustrated Stella, the main character in the book with her white cloak, a significant item in the plot, also mentioned in the book blurb.
This piece explores digital collage, vibrant colours as well as experimental typography. Encapsulating the feeling of nostalgia through imagery, sunsets represent a time of reflection and nostalgia for me. The different filters used on the sunset photograph I took when visiting Greece are reminiscent of the original filters that were available on my first ever digital camera when I was younger. I chose orange to match the sunset and used pictures from when I was younger. The song titles are either important memories from my childhood or words that make me feel nostalgic. This piece reflects my feelings of reluctance to age and the fear for change that accompanies it. Growing up and starting Cegep, I suddenly felt as if life was moving too fast and starting yearning for times when I was younger, and life seemed so magical.
This piece visually represents the narrative of a haiku I wrote, aiming to portray different physical and psychological symptoms of an anxiety disorder. I used my digital camera (Canon Rebel T6i) with a 50mm lens, two soft-boxes and two neon sticks for lighting. In the first image, I used plastic wrap to cover my sister's face to convey the feeling of being trapped and not able to breathe (I cut holes in the nose so that she could breathe). In the second, I wanted to visually express the feeling of always being watched and judged, constantly fearing of others. The third photo represents one's mind and thoughts racing, out of control. The colour red, seeping, invokes the intense and anxious feelings, while the colour blue, contrasts, presenting a facade of calmness, showing how irrational and contradicting anxiety can be. For the background, I crumped some tin foil to create interesting light reflections.
This piece is a branding for a plant shop. I created a branding design for a fictional shop since I love plants as they are constantly growing and represent, to me, a form of self care. I chose this colour palette for its earthy yet warm and welcoming tones. Given the name, I illustrated a small room with plants and used some photographs of plants I took for the website design.
This was a group project (with Noah Leve and Nabila Didi) where I designed and executed the illustrations, colour palette and posters. #MyTrauma is a campaign designed to illustrate and raise awareness on the emotional aftermath of sexual assault to not only convey the serious consequences this problem has on real people, but also comfort victims to show them that their feelings are valid. This campaign is aimed towards Cegep students of all genders. The colour palette was created to set a comforting yet realistic tone of the various emotions victims may be feeling (blue for sadness, isolation, depression, and warmer tones like orange and yellow for hope and comfort).
Created in Photoshop, this piece is an exploration of the use of typography to convey emotions and messages. Expressing the emotion of anxiety, the use of red evokes the panic and stressful feelings of this emotions. The text melts down creating a visual representation of intrusive thoughts and is distorted to create a blur with reality as most of these thoughts are irrational.
Experimenting with interactive art, these pieces are made with an online platform P5.js, which uses coding to create visual artworks. Following the theme of space and time, I wanted to experiment with the interactive movement of shapes like triangles and circles as well as colour to create visually stimulating art which changes and interacts when one’s mouse is pressed.
This project aims to justify the advantages of a technique called Phototherapy which uses photography to better one’s personal and mental state as well as self-esteem. Using lighting, colour, and composition, I focused on enhancing traits the individuals were confident about to highlight how they are more than their insecurities. In my book, I included quotes of the individuals I photographed to prove the success of my project. The book is in French as it is my final project for the French high school I attended.
