The Principles of Attitudinal Healing are at the heart of the AH Peer Support Model. Rooted in universal values found across many cultural and spiritual traditions, these Principles offer a foundation for healing that resonates with people from all walks of life. They are applied in ways that honour each person's unique background and lived experience.
The Principles serve to guide us —by focussing on one, it can help us reduce inner conflict, strengthen our connection to our own inner wisdom, and cultivate a deeper sense of peace.
If you are having trouble viewing or downloading the Principles, please visit the AHI website for a copy of the AH Principles and other free AH resources: https://www.ahinternational.org/downloads/
You can watch Paula and Els discuss each of the Principles below if you want to. This is not required for the series but you might enjoy them - and gain some insights!
Who are you in essence? This principle is the foundation that underpins all other principles: “The essence of our being is love.”
When we are at peace within, we can calmly navigate any physical or emotional challenge.
Fear, scarcity, and ego-based thinking blocks generosity and abundance. Els asks, "Can I receive without needing to earn it? Can I give without needing credit?" Give love without conditions and notice how you receive love.
Holding onto painful past stories or worrying about the future keeps us from fully living in the present. These fear-based projections shape a future that hasn’t happened.
Living in the present moment and true healing begins with letting go of guilt, judgment, and fear. Guilt ties us to the past, while fear projects us into the future - but freedom, joy, and clarity are always available NOW.
Forgiveness can feel like a daunting concept - like giving away your power - but what if it's actually the path to reclaiming it? Els shares that forgiveness is not about excusing others but about freeing ourselves from the emotional weight of blame, judgment, and painful memories.
This video invites us to let go of judgment, blame, and ego-based perception and instead embrace the essence of who we truly are: love. Put on your "coloured glasses" and change your emotional lens.
Inner peace is our natural state, and the outer world with its conflicts, projections, and triggers, often pulls us away from that calm center. But no matter what happens externally (or internally), we always have the power to choose again. Choose peace.
Reflecting on what it means to see others through kindness, innocence, and love - beyond roles of authority or ego.
We discuss how the ego thrives on identification and judgement, how guilt keeps us trapped in the past, and how forgiveness brings us back to freedom in the present.
Els speaks about how the body is an appearance in duality, why love transcends physical form, and how keeping loved ones alive in your heart allows their presence to remain even after death.
See the love in others, even when actions seem otherwise. Question the stories behind your fear and shift to a perspective of love. Practice blessing everyone in every situation, cultivating compassion without expectation.
