Students may not always dare to come forward with their ideas for fear that the idea will be perceived by other students as crazy or "wrong". To lower the threshold for students to participate in brainstorming, the teacher can ask all students to write down a "good" idea and a "crazy" idea in order to e.g. solve a problem. The unnamed notes are then read and all ideas form a basis for further discussion before solving the problem. Maybe a crazy idea can turn out to be the best solution?
Images have a strong influence, especially images of vulnerable children. In Great Britain, picture and text material (RISC) has been prepared where students can take a position on their desire and opportunity to make a difference in a positive way. Pictures to use and further information about the tool can be found here.
