"The ATLAS Light Tower as a Theater" students - Spring 2026

Thanks to those who helped the students with this project/workshop/class:

• Ann Kaiser of Ann Kaiser Creations [https://www.annkaisercreations.com/] for advising the class about color theory and design, introducing color design tools from Rosco, and connecting the class with Color Kinetics architectural lighting technology.

• David Schaal for his pioneering work with light tower experiments when the building was originally constructed.

• Dixon Stein of Visual Interest, for obtaining loaner Color Kinetics fixtures and controllers to enhance the lighting capabilities of the ATLAS Light Tower. And for demonstrating how to install and program these architectural lighting products.

• Jerry Laiserin for donating the Marantz AV receiver

• Mark Gross for supporting this unusual class and leading the ATLAS Institute

• Mike Doyle, Senior Design Architect at CommArts, for sharing the history and vision of the ATLAS Light Tower aka "lantern" that was an essential part of the building's architectural design.

• Sergio Laureano for sharing his lighting and theater technology expertise, and developing an ATLAS Light Tower user interface as part of the his M.S. in Creative Technology and Design at the ATLAS Institute, and for arranging a stage lighting tutorial at CU's Macky Auditorium.

• Slaton Spangler for developing the initial web-based controller for the ATLAS Light Tower in 2017: "'Tis the season to geek out"

• Wayne Seltzer for teaching the class and donating much of the new equipment
