Outro has always been one of my favorite songs, and I wanted to create a show to it but the original is very slow and calm, which is harder to make a show for with this medium. I heard the Wooli remix at a recent show, though, and realized it would be perfect and lent itself incredibly well to the tower.

After watching the clips from Fred Again's concert, I knew I wanted to use this song for my light show. The energy of his live production, especially the heavy use of white light was what drew me in. While making the show, I realized the song had more layers to it, so I added more colors, red for energy, purple for breathing effect. I wanted full blackout right before the drop as it'll create some tension.

I made more of an upbeat show starting with darker, cooler tones to build the beat drop. I love the flicker of the beat and connected the base lights to this effect. Then I transitioned into warmer colors until I used the whole spectrum once the chorus came on. After the main section, I slowed down the transitions again and ended with a solid red to match the lyrics.

For the light show with Tipper’s ambient track Portal Spillage, I opted to use a deep jewel-toned color palette, purple, deep green, and amber, punctuated with bright pastels, light pink and white. The deep color washes anchor the show while the pastel colors play out in glitchy asymmetric animations. There is a lot of side to side motion in the show with deep grounding color hits on key drum beats. 

With CU’s Kpop dance club, I made a light show to Sugar Rush Ride by TXT! I look inspiration from one of TXT's performance stages, and themed it blue, purple, pink, red, and white. I made the beginning of the chorus red and blue contrasting colors to fit the intense vibe, and slowed down the light speed. I used a bunch of quick color changes on the fast part of the chorus. I had fun with the wordplay, anything that references sugar or sweet was pink and anything that said devil was red. I used the shocker on the hits that ramped up. 

Psytrance on the tower! I tried to capture all the little blips and bloops with various light elements. The color scheme was meant to be constantly evolving throughout the song but I was a huge fan of how the oranges turned out.  

My light show is set to You and Me by Flume, which is one of my favorite songs because of how powerful the buildup and drop feel. I used color and timing to reflect the energy of the music, beginning with cooler tones and slowly building into brighter, more dynamic sections. I incorporated on effects with different fades, color washes, strand effects, and firework effects, all synced to the beat. As the song builds, the sequencing becomes faster and more layered to match the intensity, leading into a high-energy drop that I wanted to feel immersive and exciting.

Being from Long Island, I grew up listening to Billy Joel and Say Goodbye To Hollywood was one I loved. The reason why he wrote this song was because he was living in California for so long and at some point he realized the reason he couldn't there there anymore was because he missed New York just so much and didn't know how to live anywhere else. I just loved that idea that that New York is just such a special place to live and therefore I wanted to create a show with colors that reminded me of saying goodbye to a good part of your life to help you get to take a step into another new chapter.  

This song is a great intro into dubstep, mixing a classic song (Sunshine of Your Love by Cream) into something more modern and wubby. The song progressively builds, which is why I chose the lights to follow suite, adding more color and intensity as the song builds.

For the light show with The Hip Abduction’s track My Mirage, I chose a color palette that reflected the lyrics, words that expressed “heart-centric” sentiments and warm feelings: bright green, soft pinks and magenta, and deep blue. Bright white is only used as a punctuation to the most energetic beats of the song so that the soft color washes can fully breathe, like a flickering heartbeat. The show, like the song, is serene, with moments of cheerful energy! 

Growing up in the hardcore punk scene, I was excited for the opportunity to project one of my favorite bands on the tower. The fast-paced transitions and basslines are perfect for lighting design. With the color palette, I tried to mimic End It's aesthetic and capture their energy with the strobes. 

My show is inspired by the recent events - Artemis II - and my major! As an aerospace major, I wanted to include that part of me, as well as my creative side. I really connected to the song, “Cornfield Chase” by Hans Zimmer and the movie, "Interstellar”, and wanted to capture its beauty in lights and colors. Using deep colors, movement, and contrasting effects, my goal was to recreate a space environment. I hope you enjoy and connect with the show! 

Run Boy Run was the first song I ever created a show for, five years ago. Bringing it back to the tower felt like a cool full-circle moment for me.

I drew heavy inspiration (color and theme-wise) from my original design, adapting it to this new medium. The complexity of the lighting grows as the song evolves and adds more instrumentation, carrying the same themes throughout but with new additions.
