Today is a free day, so we had a nice slow start to the day. After a relaxing breakfast, we set out to walk the island. We started by heading to the mansion museum and common home frequented by Leonard Cohen. It was interesting to see the contrast in living styles. The views up there were beautiful as well.
Then we headed down to the waterfront and walked to the Hydra museum. After touring that, we walked around the right side of the waterfront past the sculpture of the sun. We ran into many hauling mules as we walked through the twisting ally ways of the town. Some were led by walking men and others with men on the lead mule. No motorized vehicles are allowed (other than for rescue and city utility).
Next, we explored the left side of the waterfront. We checked out an interesting church on the way. Then we walked past the sunset restaurant and on toward the beaches. We got all the way to the end of town before heading up. We walked up to the top of town and then across toward our hotel. There were interesting waterways running between rows of buildings, and there were little rectangle lights lining some of them.
We ended the day with happy hour with our group. Iris and Lorenza bought champagne and juice and pistachios. We toasted the group, and enjoyed each others' company.
