The Athabascan Sovereigntist Movement (ASM) is the founding and ruling political party of the Republic of Athabasca. Founded in 2023, the ASM acts as the primary platform for Sovereigntism, a political ideology that expands upon Marxist-Leninist theory in relation to local politics and the role micronationalism plays in developing a "worker's movement."

The manifesto of the Athabascan Sovereigntists can be summarized by the following goals:

• Establish the Republic of Athabasca as a sovereign, recognized nation-state by the United Nations and/or related international organizations.

• Work with Canadian communist movements to establish a sovereign Athabascan state alongside a broader socialist Canadian state.
