About

The Law Firm of Anne R  Tessier

Much has changed since I began practicing law.  At that time the tradition of the country lawyer was very common on the Cape and I was lucky enough to have had the privilege of working for just such a firm.  A small group of lawyers working together in the general practice of law helping people with the preparation of their wills, purchasing of homes, marriages and divorces, and litigating disputes that could not be resolved.  They were accomplished, independent, and an integral part of the community.  They lived here and raised their families here.

My firm is a general practice law firm in the tradition of the country lawyer, with an emphasis on preparing documents that help you plan for the unexpected.  I can assist you with your legal needs.

Attorney Profile

I am a licensed Massachusetts attorney with over 20 years of experience in the general practice of law.  Having grown up in Orleans, Massachusetts, I am a graduate of Nauset Regional High School in Eastham, Massachusetts, and attended Norwich University-The Military College of Vermont, as an active cadet corps member.  After graduating from Norwich University, I attended the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston and then served as the Telecommunications Coordinator for the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  Deciding to change course and pursue a career in law I attended Southern New England School of Law, now University of Massachusetts School of Law, in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, because of its focus on public service and pursuit of justice.  I am a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Massachusetts Bar Association, The Barnstable Bar Association, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc., and Cape Cod Dispute Resolution Center, Inc.

Dispute Resolution

In addition to being an attorney, I am also a trained mediator and conciliator and an active member of Cape Cod Dispute Resolution Center, Inc., d/b/a Cape Mediation.  When Cape Mediation approached me about implementing a new conciliation program in the civil session of both the Barnstable and Orleans District Courts I was excited to have the opportunity make a positive impact on our community and to help make justice more accessible to the residents of Barnstable County.  The conciliation program continues to grow and is now available in Barnstable, Falmouth and Orleans District Courts.  In addition to implementing the conciliation program I have also served as volunteer, Court Coordinator, and Program Director for Cape Mediation.  In 2019 I was appointed as Executive Director and I am honored to continue to serve this valuable and dynamic organization.
