Giving grades during this time will be difficult. It's important to remember that every learner is in a different situation right now. Some have amazing support at home while others have none. Many of our learners have access to technology and resources at home but many of them have no access at all. Rather than grades, it's important to give feedback right now. Help them understand what they do well, where they can improve, and how they can continue to grow.
I learned about Single Point Rubric from Jennifer Gonzalez a while back and have always loved the idea. It makes so much sense during this time. It will require a little more work and might be especially hard from teachers that have a large number of students. However, this is an opportunity to be creative. Maybe provide feedback every other week. This way you can provide feedback for half of your class one week and the other half the next week. It's just important that they receive some communication on the work that they are being asked to do.
Below is the Single Point Rubric for At-Home Learning. Check it out and consider how you might be use it with your learners. No pressure...just something that's here if you need it.
