Effective date: August 25, 2026
Astrum Computing, LLC ("Astrum," "we," "us," or "our") provides HairVue: AI
Hairstyle Try On ("HairVue" or the "App"). This policy explains what information
the App processes, how it is collected and used, when it is shared, how it is
protected, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Process
Photos, choices, and generated images
You choose photos through Apple's privacy-scoped photo picker. When you request
a hairstyle or hair-color preview, HairVue processes your consultation photo,
any optional hairstyle-reference photo, and your style and color choices. The
App sends those items to Astrum's HairVue cloud service and to one of the AI
image-processing providers named in Section 3 solely to create and return the
preview you requested.
Before the first such transmission, HairVue presents a permission screen that
states what will be sent, who may receive it, and why. If you choose "Not now,"
the App does not begin that request and does not send the photo for AI image
generation.
Astrum's application server processes source photos in memory for the request
and does not intentionally persist them. A generated result and its job record
may be stored temporarily so the App can deliver or recover the result; these
generation-job records normally expire after approximately one hour. A
consultation you save remains on your device until you delete it and may also be
copied to your private iCloud database if you enable iCloud sync.
AI Stylist information
If you separately choose to use AI Stylist, HairVue asks permission before
sending either (a) a reduced copy of your consultation photo and relevant style
preferences for recommendations, or (b) reduced copies of generated previews
and the relevant choices for a ranking. Google Gemini receives this information
through Firebase AI Logic only to return the recommendation or comparison you
requested. AI Stylist does not identify you, score attractiveness, or alter the
generated images.
Firebase AI Logic itself does not store AI input or output data. The selected
Gemini API provider's terms and retention rules apply to the model request.
Anonymous identifiers and security information
The App uses Firebase anonymous authentication and assigns an account-level
identifier without requiring your name or email address. We use that identifier
for authentication, subscription access, free-use allowances, rate limiting,
public voting-link ownership, and security. Firebase App Check and related
services may process installation, device-integrity, app-version, network, and
diagnostic information to protect the service.
Purchases
Apple processes App Store payments. We and RevenueCat receive subscription and
entitlement information, such as product identifier, purchase or renewal status,
expiration date, and transaction identifier, so we can provide paid features
and restore purchases. We do not receive your payment-card or bank-account
details.
Usage, personalization, and diagnostics
We may process feature interactions, generation counts, paywall interactions,
subscription tier, app version, language or region settings, and technical
diagnostic information. We use this information to operate the App, enforce
limits, personalize paywall experiences, run product experiments, diagnose
problems, and understand feature performance. The App does not use this
information for cross-app tracking.
Public voting links
If you choose to create a voting link, selected generated images, option labels,
vote totals, an anonymous owner identifier, and expiration information are
stored on our service and made accessible to anyone with the link. Voting links
normally expire after seven days. A random browser cookie is used to reduce
duplicate votes. You can delete a voting link by deleting the associated saved
consultation while connected to the internet.
2. How We Use Information
We process information to:
• create and deliver only the hairstyle previews, recommendations, or rankings
you request;
• authenticate requests and protect the service;
• save or recover short-lived generation results;
• manage free-use allowances, subscriptions, purchases, and restores;
• create and operate voting links you request;
• personalize paywall and offer experiences;
• analyze product interactions and technical diagnostics;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and service disruption; and
• comply with law and enforce our terms.
We do not sell photos or other personal information. We do not use photos for
advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. Who Receives Information
We use the following service providers only as needed for the purposes stated:
• Astrum's HairVue service on Google Cloud: receives the consultation photo,
optional reference photo, style and color choices, anonymous account
identifier, and request metadata to authenticate, route, generate, and return
a requested preview.
• Runware, Replicate, fal.ai, or OpenAI: one or more may receive the
consultation photo, optional reference photo, and generation instructions as
needed to create the hairstyle or hair-color preview. Provider selection may
vary for reliability, but the purpose does not change.
• Google Gemini through Firebase AI Logic: receives the reduced photo or
generated previews and preferences described above only when you separately
permit and request an AI Stylist recommendation or ranking.
• Google Firebase and Google Cloud: provide anonymous authentication, App
Check, Remote Config, analytics, crash reporting, messaging, storage, hosting,
and cloud processing.
• RevenueCat: receives App Store transaction and entitlement data for
subscription access and purchase restoration.
• Encore: receives paywall interaction and subscription-context data for
paywall presentation, personalization, and related analytics. It does not
receive consultation photos for AI processing.
• Apple: provides App Store distribution and purchases, the photo picker,
iCloud/CloudKit, notifications, and device services.
We require service providers that process personal data for HairVue to use it
only to provide their contracted service, keep it secure, and protect it to the
same or an equivalent level described in this policy. They may retain limited
information when required for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or
under the applicable service terms. We review providers and may replace one as
the service evolves, but a replacement must be subject to equivalent privacy
and security requirements. Current provider policies are available from
Google (https://policies.google.com/privacy),
Runware (https://runware.ai/privacy),
Replicate (https://replicate.com/privacy/),
fal.ai (https://fal.ai/legal/privacy-policy), and
OpenAI (https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy/).
4. Tracking and Advertising
HairVue does not request the Apple advertising identifier, does not sell or
share personal information for targeted advertising, and does not use App data
to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. The App does not
display third-party advertising.
5. Retention
Astrum's application server does not intentionally persist source photos.
Short-lived generation results and job records normally expire after
approximately one hour. Saved consultations remain on your device until
deletion and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your private iCloud database until
you remove them. Voting links normally stop being accessible after seven days
and can be deleted earlier from the App.
Anonymous usage, security, quality-report, and subscription records may be
retained as needed to operate the service, prevent abuse, maintain purchase
access, resolve disputes, and comply with law. AI providers may keep limited
request data under their applicable terms for service delivery, security, abuse
monitoring, or legal compliance. OpenAI states that API data is not used to
train its models by default; other providers' current terms and privacy notices
govern their processing.
6. Your Choices, Consent, and Deletion
You control whether to select a photo, grant either AI photo-processing
permission, generate a preview, use AI Stylist, save a consultation, purchase a
subscription, enable iCloud sync, or create a voting link. Declining an AI
permission prevents that request from starting. In Settings, you can withdraw
the image-generation permission or the separate AI Stylist permission; HairVue
will ask again before the next matching transmission.
You can delete saved consultations in the App. When a saved consultation has a
voting link, the App attempts to delete that server-side link before removing
the local consultation. Settings also lets you remove synced consultations from
iCloud. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account.
To request access to or deletion of server-side information associated with the
App, contact us using the support page below. Because the App uses anonymous
identifiers, we may need information from the App or device to locate the
relevant records.
7. Children and Other People's Photos
HairVue is not directed to children under 13. Do not submit another person's
photo unless you have permission to do so. A parent or legal guardian should
supervise any use involving a minor's photo.
8. Security and International Processing
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to
protect information, including authenticated requests and encryption in
transit. No system is completely secure. Information may be processed in the
United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
9. Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App, providers, or legal
requirements. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the
effective date.
