The Semester Snapshot was implemented to collaboratively reflect upon and capture semester successes and challenges, progress made towards Program Goals, and any other notable items that will aid in the 3-year Program Review documentation process. Each semester Program Directors/Department Chairs will complete the Snapshot document based on collaborative and reflective conversations with colleagues including adjuncts and concurrent credit instructors. The Learning Management System will be used to collect the Snapshot documents, and a curriculum management system will be used to archive the documents which will allow for all stakeholders to view the information at any time during the 3-year cycle. The Director of Assessment will facilitate and monitor the process each semester and provide additional support and feedback when appropriate.Â
WSU Tech is implementing a comprehensive strategy that strengthens assessment, curriculum alignment, and data-informed instruction through implementing CourseDog and a custom Power BI Learning Outcomes Dashboard. Implementation of CourseDog will begin in July of 2025, which will enable centralized creation and housing of assessment documents, integration with course scheduling, and limited data visualization capabilities. This tool will support more effective curriculum alignment and instructional planning.

To bridge the gap during CourseDog’s phased implementation, the college developed a custom Power BI Learning Outcomes Dashboard in collaboration with Institutional Research. The dashboard includes all outcome data derived from learning activities within Canvas and is sourced from either rubrics or quizzes. Learning data includes Institutional Student Learning Outcomes, Program Learning Outcomes, and Course Learning Outcomes. Faculty can disaggregate the data by course, section, and assignment, allowing for timely, actionable insights to guide instructional improvement and student support strategies.

The Power BI dashboard is centrally accessible, refreshed daily, and provides faculty with real-time insights. This initiative ensures more responsive and strategic instructional adjustments that ultimately enhance student achievement in CTE programs. A decision regarding the long-term use of Power BI or a full transition to CourseDog’s visualization tools will be made once both systems are fully operational in AY 25-26.
