HISTORY
In the early spring of 1996 during a well-attended meeting, we decided to start a corporate softball team. Led by some experienced baseball players a large group of ladies and gentlemen started in May, using the accommodation and materials of HSC GELDROP. The first season we had a number of members of more than twenty, including five ladies.
This first season we got to know each other and the basics of softball practiced game. Since the KNBSB does not have a corporate league baseball / softball in the South district, and there was no desire to participate in a regular weekend competition to participate, we as a "sparring" partner have several competitions against various associations played.
After evaluation of the first season, it was decided no longer to play softball, but to play baseball, (the ladies also participate) because it appears that with a mixed baseball team more exhibition games can be played. Again, the fields and the canteen of HSC Geldrop became our base and many nice experiences and home games could be credited to our short but abundant history!
Sport clubs with which good contacts have been made are THE STUDS, HSC NUENEN, ALL IN, and HSC GELDROP. We hope this list of clubs will still grow and the creation of other company teams in our region as a result gets a boost. We are entering the third season. The membership of our club is growing steadily, so much that we had to set a membership freeze. 30 members are now registered, all highly motivated to play. We now have our own material and our own uniforms so that the presentation of our team has nothing to be desired.
Just before we got our own uniform from ASML in 1998 we came up with a name for our club, "THE RUNNERS". The name "THE RUNNERS" is a logical link between the baseball activity and the location where ASML has housed its buildings, the business parks "De Run" in Veldhoven.
To thank our opponents and reinforce the team spirit, we have also come up with a matching "Yell".

Of course, the game level is not very high yet but with some small adjustments during matches, the opponents and we have lots of fun during this one relaxed sporting challenge.
End of year tournament ...
The ASML team "DE RUNNERS" would like to organize an annual tournament in which we of course will invite the teams we regularly compete against. The tournament will be organized by HSC Geldrop / "THE RUNNERS" and in principle takes place in September / October. We think it’s nice to thank our sparring partners in this way.
In 2000 we really reach the top, 38 members.
In 2007, after having had a short stopover at PSV, we moved from Geldrop to our current location in Veldhoven on the Kempen Campus.
In 2008 our name "DE RUNNERS" was replaced by the name "ASML Softball Team" also known as AST for short. This name change was accompanied by a new uniform.
From that year on, the number of ASML emloyees who are members of AST has declined considerably and in order to maintain the club, it has been decided that people from outside ASML may also become members of AST. Our club is reinforced with mainly old "All In" players. (All In is a Baseball and Softball association in Veldhoven, also playing at the Kempern Campus)
Because we had to contend with too few people to be able to play the league games and the recreational softball team of All In had the same problem, it was decided to practice together and also play the games together.
In 2016 we got a new uniform and meanwhile the number of members of the club is increasing again.
