Discipleship has played a critical role in my life. I first said the sinner's prayer when I was in high school, but I received no discipleship. The result was an illustration of the seed thrown on the rocky soil from Matthew 13:20-21, where I received God with joy, but quickly wilted under the pressures of our culture
It wasn't until after college, men who loved God, walked alongside me on my faith journey. Some of these men were pastors and elders at my church, some were peers doing accountability together, and some of them have been intentional, purposeful disciple makers who desire to model Jesus' example.
This topic is near and dear to my heart and I will passionately describe a type of intentional discipleship we are all called to participate in. This model is largely impacted by the book, The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert E. Coleman, and one was of his disciples, Scotty Kessler, who is a spiritual grandfather to me...as he's made disciples who've made disciples, I am passionate about encouraging the same intentional, growth-oriented, community develop within your sphere of influence.
