9:30 - 10:00 Keynote talk by Dra. Andrea Encalada, Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA) followed by a comments/questions session.

Presentation of the Science Panel for the Amazon, an ambitious cooperative project to bring together the existing scientific research on the Amazon biome and propose solutions that will secure the region’s future - Preliminary results, review of solutions and how ASL can contribute - particularly in the areas of collaboration and open knowledge.

10:00 – 11:00 Panel: The power of Amazonian knowledge: the basis for a sustainable future. Moderator: Cindy Vergel

Objective: To explore experience and lessons learned on how to empower and foster resilience of local stakeholders and sustainable development efforts in the Amazon.
