School Library Internship Scholarship for the Masters Level

This $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded each year at our annual conference to a member of ASLA currently enrolled in a Master’s Level degree program in order to provide financial assistance during their internship.

This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the recipient’s contribution/potential contribution to the library profession. It is available to students who are residents of Alabama, and who are or will be studying at any institution accredited by the American Library Association [ALA], the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation [CAEP], or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education [NCATE].

Recipients of this scholarship will be selected by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the ASLA Board each year on the basis of academic achievement, potential service/contribution, and financial need.

EdS and Doctoral Level Scholarship

This $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded each year at our annual conference to a member of ASLA currently enrolled in an Educational Specialist or Doctoral Level degree program in order to provide financial assistance during their internship.

This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the recipient’s contribution/potential contribution to the library profession. It is available to students who are residents of Alabama, and who are or will be studying at any institution accredited by the American Library Association [ALA], the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation [CAEP], or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education [NCATE].

Recipients of this scholarship will be selected by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the ASLA Board each year on the basis of academic achievement, potential service/contribution, and financial need.

National Board Certified Teacher Scholarship

Two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded each year at our annual conference to a member of ASLA who is currently seeking National Board Certification or is seeking to renew their NBCT status.

This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the recipient's demonstration of the Five Core Propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. It is available to any school librarians with an MLIS, M.Ed. in Library Media, or Ed.S. in Library Media who are serving as full-time school librarians or media specialists at a K-12 school in Alabama. Applicants must commit to completing the NBCT Portfolio and submit a proof of registration for the current cycle to receive their funds should they be selected.

Recipients of this scholarship will be selected by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the ASLA Board each year on the basis of teaching practice and financial need.
