Ask James (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a UK-based delivery navigation application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our app.
To provide and improve our services, we may collect and process the following data:
Account Information: Your name and email address when you register for an account.
Delivery Data: Routes, address history, callbacks, and delivery statuses.
Proof-of-Delivery Photos: Images captured within the app. These are saved to your local device. If you are signed in, they are securely uploaded to our cloud storage to sync across your devices.
Search Activity: Postcodes and addresses you look up, alongside trial search counts.
App Preferences: Your chosen navigation app, map preferences, and display settings.
Location Data: We access your location only while you are actively using the app to display your position on the map. We do not track your location in the background.
Most of your data is stored locally on your mobile device. To provide core features like synchronization, address searching, and subscription validation, Ask James securely routes relevant data through trusted third-party service providers.

Account, Sync & Infrastructure
Supabase: Securely hosts account sign-ins and handles the cloud synchronization of your routes, history, and proof-of-delivery photos. Photos are kept in private, isolated storage bound strictly to your account.
RevenueCat: Used to manage, validate, and track your premium app subscription status.
Address Search & Geocoding
When you look up locations, search queries are securely handled by:
Ordnance Survey Places: For comprehensive UK address lookups.
postcodes.io: For quick UK postcode matching.
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): Used as a UK fallback and for worldwide address searching.
Maps & External Navigation
Google Maps: Powers our in-app map display and acts as an optional target for external turn-by-turn navigation.
Waze: Acts as an optional target for external navigation (launches the Waze app on your device).
Google Play / Apple App Store: Handles the actual payment processing, transactional billing history, and licensing for Ask James Pro.
We use the collected information solely to operate, support, and maintain the application. Specifically, this includes:
Generating, sorting, and optimizing your delivery routes.
Storing and syncing your proof-of-delivery photos across devices.
Managing and verifying your app subscription.
Providing customer troubleshooting and support.
Under UK GDPR, you have full control over your information. Directly within the app, you can:
Export Data: Download your route and address history as a CSV file.
Clear Local Data: Wipe local storage via the app's Settings menu.
Delete Cloud Data: Deleting your history in the app automatically removes the associated photos from our cloud servers.
