Goals

This group focused on exploring the complex identity of being a refugee and the unique experiences of growing up in America. Through various initiatives, such as organizing World Refugee Day events and holding intergenerational conversations within the Bhutanese refugee community, the group aimed to foster a collective sense of belonging. By facilitating talking circles, participants were encouraged to share their personal stories, creating a space to explore the intersectionality of their identities and experiences. Ultimately, this group sought to deepen the understanding of what it means to be a refugee, highlighting the challenges, resilience, and strength that shape the refugee experience.

The identity and belonging group started the podcast Hamro Katha: When the Lotus Blooms.
