UpNext Music Video

This project was our first attempt towards animating non-human characters using Motion Capture data. The modeling, rigging and rendering has been completely done in Blender.

Plot

The song used in this video is "Rise Up" by Yves Rock. The story is about a Penguin who wants to learn how to fly. It also has a band performing the song, which supports the theme of the story. The first shot of the video has a flock of birds flying in the sky and the penguin who at that point is at the music performance happens to notice this gets a yearning to learn how he could enjoy something like that. The next shot is where he goes to the top of the cliff and tries to jump and has no luck with it. He later gets a hang glider and tries to fly but fails to come close to flying. Next shot shows a walking disappointed penguin who has had failures with all his attempts. Just then he happens to notice a hill and gets an idea he could at least enjoy flying momentarily. He uses a shovel and builds a mound that would help him slide down the hill and then up in the air for a while. We exit the plot where his friends, being inspired, are enjoying the same sensation of flight.
