This project comprises of weaving a tale using Ginger Bread Man (GBM) and creating a short animated movie. The entire animation has been done using Blender which is a free software.
Plot
The baker places the cookie tray with two varieties of ginger bread men into the oven and shuts the oven door. One of the Red Ginger Bread Men comes to life and picks up an M&M that fell off a Green Ginger Bread Man( GBM). He taunts the Green GBM by tossing the M&M in the air. The Green GBM wakes up and gets his team together. The Green GBM with the lost M&M becomes the Goalee for the Green Team. We now have a soccer ball match between the two teams (Red and Green). The red team challenges the green team. As the game is in progress, a player from the green team commits a foul. The referee blows his whistle and shows him a red card. Player from the red team gets a penalty kick. When the player kicks the ball the Goalee from the green team (GBM with the missing M&M) dives to get the ball and blocks it with his stomach. He checks if the M&M is in place and celebrates. Just then the Alarm ticks off and all the GBM freeze in their original position and fall back to the tray. The baker opens the door and pulls the cookie tray out of the oven, but the camera focuses on GBM with newly recovered button with a bigger smile.

Scene 1 - Baker Slides the Cookie tray into the Oven. The Green GBM loses M&M and the red GBM picks it and taunts him.
In this image we see that the mitten has been given a cloth effect. This was achieved by adding two textures on the same material. The first texture is a checkered image and the second is the blender provided "Stucci" texture type which together affect the lighting and make the image look bump mapped and hence simulating the cloth effect.
This image shows a sad Green GBM who cannot have his M&M back.The Character has been given a more human touch with his eyes looking down and an inverted smile.
Scene 2 - The Game. The Foul. Referee Whistles and shows the red card.
These images show complex animation and posing. On the left we see that the green GBM tries to tackle the ball, trips over and falls for which he gets a red card. The right image shows a red GBM in the air and where he kicks the ball. This image has motion blur effect on it.
Scene 3 - Red GBM takes the penalty kick. Green GBM (Goalee) blocks the M&M. All GBM freeze and fall back into cookie Tray.
Here we see that as the player kicks the ball, the ball squeezes and changes its shape. This has been done to exagerate the kick and give it an animated look.
This image shows a GBM celebrating after he blocks this penalty kick and gets his M&M back onto his stomach.

Conclusion
This project involved using Blender for animating a ginger bread character and telling a story using a short movie. During the course of this project we had an opportunity to have our first hands on , on character modeling and animation. It has left us with a clear understanding of the various factors necessary for good animation and character modeling.
