1. Remote Appliance Control
Designed an appliance to toggle AC devices ON/OFF using an infrared remote. The PCB layout was designed in Orcad and implemented initially on a breadboard. Once, the PCB was developed, the components were soldered in place and the through holes were connected manually. Finally, a brief quality check was conducted to prevent possible failure. 2. K’nex POV Display
The world’s first and only persistence of vision display made out of K’nex building blocks. Uses an AVR based microcontroller to manipulate 25 red LEDS (for text) and 6 blue LEDS (line that separates adjacent rows of text) so as to generate a holograph like projection of 5 rows of scrolling text. To achieve this effect, the shaft bearing all the LEDs is rotated at 900 RPM while the display is kept in sync by an LED – LDR sensor. Links: K’nex POV Display PDF, About K’nex
