CULTIVATION: A set of projects done privately with my colleague Arjun Suresh, in order to study the accelerated growth of plants using aeroponics
1. AeroGrow
Built a 30 plant automated aeroponics system using PVC tubes on the rooftop. Using R code, designed custom fertilizers comprising of around 11 chemicals to grow tomatoes, okra and beans from a list of around 55 possible chemicals. In addition to being relatively cheap, this system used much less water and fertilizer in order to produce the same amount of biomass. 2. AeroGrow 2
AeroGrow was a success, but it had issues with respect to pythium based root rot as the crops became larger in size. This along with the need for a more portable, affordable and automated version, led to the design of AeroGrow 2. Building and testing of this rig is currently in progress.
