Project Description
This project requires us to look through Creative Commons (CC) and find examples of various types of media and share them with proper credit given to their creators.
Image Sample: JPEG
"Eight Eyes. Engraving after C. LeBrun" by Charles LeBrun is licensed by CC0
This is an image I chose because I find anatomical drawings appealing
I downloaded the original size of the image and uploaded it. It's small size gives an optical illusion-like effect.
This image is licensed under the Public Domain Mark. This implies that:
Share- Limitation only when copyright restricted in other areas but public domain in others
Adapt- Any type of modification is allowed
This image can be utilized on the following terms:
Attribution- None required, as this is old art work where copyright rules do not apply
Audio Sample: MP3
The audio sample presented is titled Horror Music #2. I downloaded this sound because it reminds me of the ambience of old horror games like Fatal Frame 2
I copied the code provided by the creator and embedded the code from the official site
This media was shared under the CC by 4.0 license. This means that users can:
Share- free to copy, distribute, and transmit
Adapt- any type of remixing/modifications are permitted
As long as you adhere to the following terms:
Attribution- You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use
Animation Sample: Animated GIF
This is an example of an animated GIF (file images) of Mr.X from Resident Evil 2.
I downloaded the GIF from DeviantArt and uploaded it onto my site.
There was no information displayed about the copyright or distribution limitations so I'll follow the TASL rule...
Title- Mr X
Author- imdrunkontea
Source- https://www.deviantart.com/imdrunkontea/art/Mr-X-783683462
License- Unknown
Video Sample: YouTube
I embedded a video of a funny clip from one of my favorite cartoons.
It's just showing how in many places such as retail and fast food restaurants, young people make up the majority of employees so store managers tend to be young as well.
There seems to not be any licensing information on the URL link of the clip itself since it is not the publisher's original clip as it is taken from Cartoon Network
However on a fan page, it states that it is CC licensed by SA. This allows users to:
Share- copy and redistribute any medium for any purpose including commercial
Adapt- remix/modify for ant purposes including commercial
As long as you adhere to the following terms:
Attribute- Must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if a change was made
Sharealike- If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
Lessons Learned
Through this project I was able to review the media types listed above. I've used them all multiple times before but I simply did not have a clear definition of what they are. I was also shocked at how long copyright lasted on media; 70 years after the owner's death is quite a long time.
