Project Description
This assignment called for the browsing of news articles about information security and attacks that may have happened as of late. I then had to assess whether the news article I found was a credible source or not. We also took a cybersecurity training and got a certificate for completing it.
News Articles
There is a new take on an old fashioned scam where the attacker will send an email to recipient with their full name and a picture of their home. They demand payment and threaten to share embarrassing and explicit images of their victim and their browsing history to people they know. It turns out that personal info is usually taken from public data and images of your home are most likely taken from google maps or real estate websites.

Ransomware Attack Effects on Healthcare
Ransomware attacks against healthcare providers have been alarmingly increasing. Healthcare organizations store sensitive data and also tend to have lower cyber protection, which make them so vulnerable to ransomware attacks. When attackers access patient data, they end up increasing the stroke code variations and patient wait time, which negatively affects their well-being. Some advice for cyber protection for healthcare attacks would be to stay informed from health providers, confirming appointments, maintaining personal health records, and just being vigilant.

My Certificate
Lessons Learned
I learned that cybersecurity attacks are actually common and occur on a daily basis. Attacks can happen to any system that withholds information of their customers, be it a restaurant or a hospital's database, hackers will use any type of system they can get their hands on and wring whichever victim they can. I also learned that its people themselves that allow hackers to access this information because not everyone can differentiate a fraudulent email/message from a legitimate one.
