Apps for Psychologists
These apps may be published on the App Store soon. I created them for myself, but others might find them helpful.
Psych Timer - Unlike typical timers, Psych Timer can quietly alert you by flashing the screen—perfect for situations where you need a silent, visual cue. Choose from screen flash, vibration, sound, or no alert at all. It also keeps working while recording sound in other apps.
Score Descriptors - The descriptive terms for score ranges of psychological and educational tests, such as for the KTEA-3 - 85-115 is Average, 70-84 is Below Average, etc. Descriptors are from each test's manual.
StatsConvert - Convert between Standard scores, scaled scores, T-scores, z-scores, and percentile ranks. Other than looking up percentile ranks, I often convert T-scores - I just think better in Standard scores! Note that behavioral scales typically use different percentile calculations.
One Sec—This is helpful for exact pacing. Present information at a perfect 1-second or 1/2-second rate. The screen flashes different colors every second (or half-second).
Safe-Snap - Designed for secure photo capture and storage without saving to the iPhone’s Photos app. Photos are automatically named by the date and time they are taken and can be renamed. To prevent inappropriate use, in-app photo previews are intentionally small and cannot be viewed full-size within the app (though full-resolution files are retained for secure export). Export safely using encryption.
PsychEval Age - A quick age calculator designed for psychological test protocols. It includes both the standard calendar age and a numerical breakdown for protocols that require manual subtraction of the test date and birth date. This helps ensure your numbers add up correctly in each box, even if the calculated days don’t exactly match the calendar age. Useful for anyone entering age data directly on printed forms.
