Innato SS22

 Innato translate as Innate: existing in, belonging to, or determined by factors present in an individual from birth : native, inborn. innate behavior.  Belonging to the essential nature of something : inherent.

From her life processes, migration has been part of Ashleen's environment since birth. When looking for ways to communicate this feeling, or uncertainty in many cases, the designer cannot avoid comparing it with the migratory process of birds. Their nature and how they move from one place to another to adapt to better living conditions inspire her to compare and visualize migration as part of an innate process.

The migratory process of birds resonates with us. Our displacement, whether through change by will or necessity, causes a reactive chain that extends throughout living beings. This collection seeks precisely to make sense of this state and raise awareness about the transitions that we living beings need to assume. Each stroke, color, textile, and print has an intention. Through this work, she wishes to use clothing as a platform to carry a message, a challenge to question our own nature and learn to identify with our environment.
