Paramount Arts Center

The Paramount Arts Center in Ashland has a rich history dating back to the early 1920s. Originally planned as a Paramount theater to exclusively show Paramount-made movies, the project was canceled during the Great Depression. However, plans resumed in 1928 when Rapp & Rapp, a distinguished architectural firm, designed the theater. Three years later, the Paramount Theater opened its doors to hundreds of excited locals. Despite its success, the Paramount also has a haunted history, with a legend known as "Paramount Joe." Today, the Paramount is an integral part of Ashland's heritage, culture, and tourism, and it is even on the National Register of Historic Places. Famous artists such as Billy Ray Cyrus and the band Alabama have performed at the Paramount, making it a driving factor in keeping Ashland unique for generations to come.Â
