Dr. Aryan Kaushik is Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) at the RakFort, Ireland and Adjunct Professor at the IIITD, India, since 2025. He has been an Associate Professor at the Manchester Met, UK, associated with the Department of Computing and Mathematics, from 2024-25. Prior to that, he has been an Assistant Professor (on a senior grade) at the University of Sussex, UK, associated with the School of Engineering and Informatics, from 2021-24, where he also served as the Recruitment and Admissions Tutor, and Academic Advisor. He has been Research Fellow at the University College London, UK, with the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, from 2020-21. He completed his PhD degree in Communications Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh, UK, in 2019. He received his MSc degree in Telecommunications from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, in 2015. He has held other Visiting Professor/Researcher appointments at the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2024, Athena RC, Greece, in 2021, Imperial College London, UK, from 2019-20, University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg, in 2018, and Beihang University, China, from 2017-19 and 2022. He has also served as External Assessor (Academic Promotion) at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, in 2025, and as PhD External Examiner internationally such as at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2025, NITJ, India, in 2025, NITP, India, in 2025, and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain, in 2023.
He has been an Invited Panel Member for the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Prioritisation Panel in 2023, as French National Research Agency (ANR) Proposal Reviewer in 2025, and as EPSRC Proposals Reviewer since 2023. He has been Chair of the IEEE Communications Society's Emerging Technology Initiative (ETI) on Electromagnetic Signal and Information Theory, since 2024, with a team close to 100 professionals worldwide including 30+ IEEE Fellows. He has been also Co-Chair of the IEEE Communications Society's Special Interest Group (SIG) on AI-Driven Integration of Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks since 2025, and WG3 Vice Chair of the one6G Association, a consortium of global industry and academic working groups on 6G, since 2025. He has been Core Member of the IEEE P1955 Standard on 6G-Empowering Robotics, since 2024. His research interests include signal processing for 5G/6G wireless communications, integrated sensing and communications, reconfigurable holographic and intelligent surfaces, energy efficient communication systems, non-terrestrial networks (satellite and UAV Communications), millimeter wave massive MIMO, and machine learning, edge computing and AI-assisted communications. He has been involved as PI in three of the UKRI HEIF funded projects on AI and Holographic Surfaces assisted Integrated Sensing and Communications, Net Zero and Sustainable 6G, and Green and Autonomous UAVs, Sussex-ROF funded project on Integrated Sensing and Communications, research lead in the UK DSTL, DASA and EPSRC funded projects on integrated sensing and communications including the UK-wide UDRC consortium, and many other collaborative projects globally. He has been awarded with the Top Editor Award 2024 at the IEEE Internet of Things Magazine, Best Editor Awards 2024 and 2023 at the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, and Exemplary Editor Awards 2024 and 2023 at the IEEE Communications Letters. He has been serving as Member-at-Large of the IEEE Communications Society On-Line Content Board from 2024-25, Founding Member of the IEEE Communications Society's Special Interest Group (SIG) on Fluid Antenna Systems since 2024, and Elections Committee Member for the IEEE Communications Society UK & Ireland Chapter in 2024. He has been an Award Nominee for the Teaching to Disrupt Award and Inclusive Sussex Award at the Sussex Education Awards 2024. He has been also associated as member of the one6G Association and euRobotics Topic Group on xGRobotics: Connected Robotics.
