Through illustration-based projects and print processes, students explore storytelling, symbolism, and the relationship between image and text. Classes such as Warm Winter focus on atmosphere, narrative, and material choice, using ink, paint, collage, and print techniques to create emotionally resonant imagery.
I teach painting as both a technical and reflective practice. Students build skills in brush handling, color mixing, composition, and material experimentation, while also asking deeper questions about expression, meaning, and contemporary painting today. We look at historical and contemporary painters as inspiration, and students develop their own visual language over time.
In ceramics classes, students work with clay as both a sculptural and functional material. Projects range from vessels and sculptural forms to sound-based works such as ceramic instruments. Students learn hand-building techniques, surface treatment, and how material choices affect both form and meaning.
