Bio: Alexander has always had a love for art. He joined the VisAbility Art Lab in December 2022. He has worked in many different modalities with a recent focus in paper puppet making and watercolor pencils. Artwork Description: In my photographs, I capture everyday objects and scenery and make them abstract and seen in a different way. My photograph “Christmas Tree Lights” was taken late at night after setting up the Christmas tree. The quiet atmosphere late at night with everyone asleep and the lights turned off with just the reflection of colorful lights on the tree and the sound of the wind was when I was inspired to capture that memory forever.

Bio: JP is a lifelong Cecil County, Maryland resident who grew up on his family farm, developing a deep appreciation for nature and detail. After enjoying drawing in his youth, he shifted his artistic focus to photography, working exclusively with his mom’s cell phone. He captures landscapes, watermen’s boats, sunsets, and moments of humor—often from the car window—guided by the strong sense of line, pattern, and texture shaped by his autism. JP has earned numerous awards, held several solo exhibitions, and even appeared in films. He shares a new photo each day on Facebook, often paired with his own Haiku poetry.

Bio: Justin Valenti is a 29 year-old artist and advocate who specializes in fluid and digital art. He is the business owner of Artistic Expressions by Justin K Valenti. In 2025, Justin received an Artists and Scholars Project Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. He received the Maryland Governor’s Award for his outstanding achievements in Disability Culture in 2023. A long-time advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Justin has been on the Board of Directors for The Arc Maryland since 2020 and is currently Executive Secretary.

Artwork Description: This is a fluid art painting that I created using acrylic paint mixed with floetrol and silicon drip oil. After mixing and pouring the paint, I manipulated it by rotating and tilting the canvas until I achieved the results that I wanted. The artwork reminds me of an ocean crashing on a sandy shore because of the movement and paint cells that can be found in the piece.

Bio: Kris McElroy is an Autistic Black biracial transgender man with multiple disabilities, as well as an artist, writer, and advocate living in Howard County with his wife and daughter. Art has long been his language—supporting communication, coping, healing, self-discovery, and empowerment. Creative expression allows Kris to share experiences he cannot always convey through words, especially around disability, race, identity, parenting, mental health, poverty, trauma, and intersectionality. Through his art and advocacy, he seeks to build connection, spark dialogue, and inspire a more inclusive community for all.

Louis has been a member artist at Make Studio in Baltimore City since 2010. Recent exhibitions include “Chronicles: Storytelling Through Imagery,” at Annmarie Garden & Arts Center (Solomons, MD), “Today is the Greatest” with Quickest Flip at NIAD (Richmond, CA), "Clay Nowadays,” a ceramic exhibition at Visionaries+Voices (Cincinnati, OH). He has taught landscape painting workshops at the American Visionary Art Museum and elsewhere.

Over the years I have collected thousands of seashells, soda tabs and most importantly pennies. I am extremely excited to find pennies on the ground. Bio: Rachel Pomponi is an aspiring writer, illustrator, and self-taught artist. Rachel graduated from Howard Community College in 2013 with an Associate of Arts degree. She is an Associate member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS) and belongs to the Howard and Carroll County Art Councils. She is also a member of the Autism Society of Maryland and its adult social group. Rachel believes that autism gives her a unique perspective of the interaction of shapes and colors that she expresses in her art.

Bio: Rob Stone is a disabled artist living in Bethesda, Maryland. Rob uses multiple techniques to create his art, including using his finger, knuckle or hand prints to create a base image. His assistant works with him to fill in details under his direction. Rob also uses his eyes with a computer program to create Pollack-style abstract art. Rob is a health care and disability rights advocate with Little Lobbyists, Caring Across Maryland, and other groups. Rob is also a proud 2020 graduate of The Arc of Maryland's Partners in Policymaking program.

The dark blobs below it represent the battle.
