Arthur Traynor is a costume artist with an affinity for theatre, circus, ballet, and other live events. His work in theatre and film has been featured in several Canadian theatre companies and festivals such as NextFest, Take 5 Theatre Festival, Victoria School of the Arts, BlueShore Financial Centre for Performing Arts, St. Georges School, PlayWorks, etc.
Although he specializes in costume design for theatre, Arthur also has experience in both set and truck costuming for film. After designing Forever and a Day (Dir. Cameron Heo), Arthur is enthusiastic and open to working on more film projects.
Arthur’s work as a designer began at the Take 5 Theatre Festival (Edmonton, AB) as he co-founded and produced the event in 2021. He continued with the festival designing a second play in the summer of 2022. His work continued as a Coordinator and Asst. Designer at CapU in several productions at the BlueShore theatre (Vancouver, BC).
As an alumni of Capilano University’s Costuming for Stage and Screen program, Arthur had the opportunity and resources to explore the full depth of the costuming department. Having experience in cutting, stitching, dressing, and design, Arthur is eager to see what his next steps will be.
Arthur Traynor is a designer with a unique understanding of his craft, a keen imagination, and a new perspective of the otherworldly. Arthur is equipped for any role in a costume team, and he fully understands how to develop a dynamic, characterful costume.
