The Twist hair comb is known as 'hineri kamisuki’ and features a unique, three-dimensional curve – a world first, and one that produces an invigorating massage effect on the user’s scalp. The Twist hair comb uses a natural type of Birch wood (Betula Schmidtii), Ono-ore-kanba, which is known as rare and the hardest wood in Japan, therefore it ensures the durability of the product. According to a Japanese legend, the wood from this 500-year-old tree is so hard that an axe would break if taken to its trunk. In addition, the grain wood line and color depend on the part of the wood used making it attractive, thus gives the sense of individuality not to mention its unique feature and handmade process. Of course, the Twist Hair Comb is gentle on the user’s head.

This artfully shaped wooden comb won a Good Design Award in 2013 and a Tohoku Invention Award. ARTFORME received a Special Award for “Twisted Hair Comb” in Japan at the 2020 Wood Design Award.

The Twist Comb was also featured in NHK BS Premium Ippin, a Japanese TV program that features well-known craftsmen and their crafts.

It was also introduced in the Ippin collection, which was selected among the many traditional handicrafts featured in the TV program`s eight years of recording.
