I have been on both sides of the classroom as a student and as a teacher. The technical definition of a student is a person who is studying at an educational institution. Even though I am teaching at an educational institution, I have discovered that roles can sometimes be reversed. My role as a teacher shifts from teacher to student when there is an exchange of new ideas, technologies, or materials from young creatives. This exchange of knowledge has become very valuable as it taught me about new discoveries and creative ventures I have never considered. As a result, being part of the creative journey with my students has been a rewarding teaching experience. It is a reminder to always be a student of life as there is always so much to learn. After all, at age 87, Michelangelo said, “I am still learning.”
