We will be making Pop-Up Books. You can fill the books with drawings of things you like to do with your dad, make it into a story, write special notes, or even add photographs. There are so many ways you can change this Pop-Up Book, so do what you feel is best for your special person.
Instructions:
Watch the video tutorial.
Now, start by drawing the illustrations. Draw things you love to do with your dad. Write little notes. See the resources at the bottom of the page for suggestions. Use colour. Cut out your drawings.
Gather your supplies:
4 pieces of thicker paper (I used coloured cardstock). The paper should stand up by itself when you fold it.
scissors
glue stick (or double sided tape)
ruler
pencil
your drawings/photos/notes that you did in step 2.
Cut your paper to the appropriate size. Remember that when you fold it in 2, that's how big your card will be. I cut my paper that was 8.5 inches x 11 inches down to 8.5 inches x 6 inches.
Fold each paper in half, hamburger style.
Distribute your decorations inside the pieces.
Cut your pop-out tabs by cutting even slits on the folded edge, then folding them over and through the center. (see the video)
Glue your decorations carefully onto the pop-out tabs inside.
Repeat with each card.
Glue (or use double-sided tape) the outsides of the pages together (see video) to make a book.
Glue the cover page around the pop-up pages.
Add final decorations and writing.
Note: Below are some reference images for ideas in decorating your card. These images are not my own, but are credited with their designers and the site where I found them, Freepik. These images are okay to use as long as we credit their source and do not use them commercially.
Also, try and do your own drawings, printing these out and glueing them in your card is much less creative.
