After a year of the conference, classes, and discourse, Cohort participants meet with an accessibility consultant to understand what it takes to make a plan that means action. Art-Reach invites Scott Artley, a guest facilitator with years of experience working in arts and cultural inclusion. Scott will reflect on the “soft skills” that accessibility requires, then we’ll spend time “network-weaving” to identify your next steps––and the allies that can help you get there.
Scott Artley (he/him/his and they/them/theirs)has 15 years of leadership experience in the arts, often with a focus on unusual community-driven arts and cultural initiatives. Ask him about the summers he coordinated access programs for an outdoor opera, the performance parties he hosted at an underground queer cultural center, or the fundraising event idea he had that featured a baseball bat and a temperamental copy machine. He serves as the Accessibility Program Director at the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to his full-time gigs, Scott has provided independent accessibility consulting services for the last ten years. He is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals. Scott is also a cultural producer and creative, and is currently working on his first novel, usually with his orange tabby KittyPants at his side.
