This promotional poster created by one of our team members in Adobe Photoshop is a metaphor for the hidden realities that are waiting to be discovered. Looking at the artwork, the onlooker is meant to discover something new each time, with every part of the poster being from at least one of the three stages featured in this project. The name False Perceptions comes from both the appearance of a singular image of the poster that is - in fact - an amalgamation of several things as well as the idea that the reality we see around us might not be the truth.
TRAILER
The promotional trailer includes three stages that we used in the final project. To fully attract the audience, the video has a walkaround version of each stage and allows the audience to have a view of this Augmented Reality experience.
DESCRIPTIONS
At the beginning of time, there is no distracting technology, no pressure from society or capitalism, no impending deadlines. The dancers were meant to represent this freeform and uninhibited environment, like kindred spirits. The player moves through the seemingly never-ending forest stage to be teleported into another universe.
This scene is meant to be a return to something that is familiar; the return to structured society and community. This is the universe that we know - the only one that we know so far. It is meant to evoke a feeling of comfort as the audience is able to recognize most, if not all, of the aspects of their surroundings.
Some people are able to imagine an entirely separate future from the world that they are in. This stage is a rendering of that imagination. A universe that exists separate but simultaneous to the universe of Act Two. It exists regardless of whether it is discovered by the audience, and features a floating stage and surrounding urban-style skyscrapers.
Each member of Group 1 created two virtual stages, three of which were meticulously chosen from the pool to be featured in this project, which is intended to explore the theory that there is an endless number of alternate universes and how the reality that is currently being perceived is just that - a perception. The enchanted forest of the first stage represents a potential universe that is primitive and raw in form.
The second stage represents the universe that we are currently in - life in the city, bustling people and cars, modern technology.
The third and final stage showcases a universe that could be: urban life in the air with floating stages for various virtual performances. A city that exists above ground, isolated in its own world. Each "universe" took countless hours to craft, with each team member sifting through endless assets, clips of dancer footage, music selections, and tutorials to create what could have been, what currently is, and what could be. The team also chose to use special visual effects to enhance the immersive environment, including sparklers, fireworks, and steam.
